The goal

Identify path-length issues before files are moved or reorganized.

Project approach

This desktop utility helps ensure your file system stays within operating system path limits. Select a folder to scan, set a character limit and choose to measure either filenames, full paths or directory names only. The tool can simulate a new root prefix and generates a text report listing any items that exceed the limit, while displaying progress and results in the app.

The deliverable

The project provides a desktop interface for the workflow described above. The available demonstration and description show its functionality; production-use metrics are not included.
